Course Description
This first intermediate course is focused on the introduction to the process approach to writing and development of reading fluency and vocabulary. Writing and grammar activities will be integrated through basic sentence structure and paragraph organization. Emphasis will be put on gaining skills to produce a clear and well-planned paragraph through learning capitalization rules, sentence and paragraph structure, and increasing vocabulary. Required Textbooks: Longman Academic Writing Series, Paragraphs to Essays ISBN: 978-0-13-466332-6 Focus on Vocabulary 1: Bridging Vocabulary ISBN: 978-0-13-137619-9 Prerequisite: Students are required to take a reading and writing placement assessment to participate in this non-credit ESOL class. Also, Workforce Development and Academic Success Center staff discretion is taken under advisement. WDC ESOL Writing & Reading Placement Assessment includes: Part 1: Three reading prompts, completing the multiple choice or true/false questions for each. Course Description
IINE’s 18 week Licensed Nursing Assistant Program combines English language instruction with classroom and hands-on healthcare experience. Students prepare for the NH Board of Nursing LNA licensing exam and will recieve two certificates at the end of the program, an MCC LNA training certificate needed to take the state exam and an IINE ESOL class hours certificate. This course is free for qualified students. Location Varies by Class Day: Brookside Chruch (2013 Elm St), Manchester Community College, and Local Clincial Site. Today 10 years later I have the opportunity to start again in the nursing area. To be an L.N.A. is the first step in this part of my life. If I graduate from this L.N.A program I will have the opportunity to work in a hospital area, help people, and finally work at my dream job. I will continue going to college in the future to learn more, earn more money and help my family.
I learned things I didn’t know. I left school over 20 years ago so this brought back my memory about learning back. It made a lot of impact and gave me encouragement.
I'm proud that I dared to have a job interview in English and also to attend a meeting at my son's school without a translator as I used to request and to attend medical appointments without a translator!
English classes are important for my future because I want to run my own business. I need to speak English to understand other people's needs.
This school is good to help me with English to read, speak and listen. I have a job and I'm now an American citizen!
I am very grateful for the help with this program. It gives refugees our lives, supports us and gives us a chance to start our life in a safe country.
